Everything is Grape!

I had my consultation with the new OB today. She is nice and made us feel comfortable and the practice isn't too far from home. BUT her sonogram machine is pretty outdated. I've been so spoiled that I'm not sure if I would or should let that be a deal breaker. I know my old OB's machines are newer than this one but I didn't like that she always seemed busy which is why I wanted to try someone new. That and Jeff hated her nasally voice. I dunno what to do. Jeff is fine with this OB's voice so that's a plus. Though she is the only person in this practice so she'll probably be very busy too. Decisions, decisions! (The other practice has several doctors)

This was just a consultation but she went ahead and gave us an ultrasound when we both made disappointed faces about not seeing the babies. Score! As I said, the machine is outdated. There is no second screen on the wall for better view. She only had the tiny little old monitor and there was no sound so we didn't hear the heartbeats. We saw the flickers but that's it. Ok, that's not it. Baby A's hearbeat was 161 BPM and Baby B's was 172 BPM. How she figured that I don't know, the measurement was really fast. And we didn't get any sonogram pics, but maybe that's because it was just a consult.

The biggest thing? This was my very first abdominal sonogram. No more dildo cams, woohoo! Both babies were active, we saw them both moving a lot but Baby B took the upper hand on this one. Baby B seemed pretty hyper, I think after hiding out on us last week he/she was so excited to see us that he/she couldn't stay put. I loved every second of it... even if we had to squint to see them. Oh, and if you didn't figure it out by the title, this week they are each the size of a grape.

  3. Yay for seeing your grapes! Sucks to like someone but not their sono machine, I don't know what I would do either. The good part of having a one doctor practice is that it feels more personal so its a tough decision, good luck making it!

  4. I'm imagining dancing grapes now lol

Its so nice she gave you the sono eventhough this was just a consultation, she gets points for that. Sorry the machines are old, I will say that if you thought of looking for a new ob maybe its a sign not to go back to the old one and you can always interview more ob's so don't feel stuck with these 2 ob's. GL!

  5. Oh I don't know Shanny, I like the idea of several doctors in one practice so you'll always know one of them will be delivering the babies, with one doctor its a bit of a gamble. It depends on what you are looking for.
I think the updated equipment would make my mind up for me lol I'm glad you saw the babies!

  15. Yay for two reasons- no more dildo cam and your sweet little grapes! How exciting. So precious. Ahhh, I'm just so thrilled for you Shanny! It has been such an honor to read your journey through infertility and now see the divine miracle that God has bestowed upon you. Your womb is meant and was created for these little grapes who will soon be oranges and before you know it, you will have two precious babes resting in your arms. I am just so happy for you. You're an inspiration to those who are experiencing what you have experienced and even to those of us who have not. So excited to see you progress and see these little grapes grow and grow and grow!!! You're already a wonderful mommy. I just know it. :)

  16. Shanny, I don't know...outdated machinery, no sound, and no pictures for you? I think she needs to be FIRED, lol. Congratulations on no longer needing the dildo cam!

  17. Nothing is better than watching your little one(s) grow inside your tummy. Soak it all up! 9 months is gone before you know it!

  18. I LOVED when I got to have ultrasounds because it was a reminder to me that all was well and they really were in their growing and moving.

The best part is when they start moving and you can feel it because then you really get a constant reminder that all is well :)
